This is Who We Are: Our Mission
January is human trafficking awareness month, we would like to take this opportunity to share our hearts on this horrifying industry.
According to the Polaris Project, the human trafficking industry is worth $150 billion dollars.
While human trafficking does include the typically thought of scenario of kidnapping, in places such as Nepal and India it looks different. In places of severe poverty people are led to believe they will be going to do a job or have a new life. A better life where they can send money back to their families. In some cases the families will actually sell them so they can receive the initial money for their child and then have the child send back money when they are enslaved in work labor or sexual labor.
For so long we have been told that this industry is too powerful, there are too many traffickers, and we will never be able to bring them down. This mindset ends now.
At Destiny Designs we believe the change starts with small steps of change. Our mission is to create jobs, restore dignity and bring freedom. When we come across a woman that wants to be free of her enslavement, we do our best to get her free of the monetary bond her trafficker holds over her. Then we give this woman a job, our goal is to allow her to earn an honest living to get her away from the traffickers. Through empowering her to create her own life and job, we hope to restore dignity and strength in our women.
Through the purchase off of our website, you are not only helping to free women from captivity, but also helping to restore their dignity through providing a job for them as well.
We cannot do what we do without your support, this store goes far beyond jewelry, it goes forward to end this horrible industry one woman at a time.
We have been told there are too many people already lost, there are too many traffickers, how do you ever plan to stop them?
One woman at a time, one trafficker at a time, we will stand up and speak for those who have had their voices removed and we will bring them into freedom.
